News that VoIP, the latest innovation in communications that uses the same internet technology you use for browsing the net has been subject to more serious incidents of wiretapping than previously thought. Same as with traditional phone lines that have been tapped time and time again and subject to much controversy, the same goes for VoIP which is also being tapped which can be easier due to the data being sent through the internet. These VoIP signals are usually encrypted but with so much technology and black hat code out on the net, it only takes time to get your hands on some code breaking program that would allow such activities to get carried out. So what do you do to get your VoIP system the protection it needs to prevent such activities, obtain some tough encryption technology and avoid open systems that use no form of encryption. Some programs are capable of using military grade encryption technology but they will cost you. But, better be safe than sorry, or better yet, best have your conversations safe between you and the intended recipient instead of having it posted all over the internet.
